Ciputra University Auditorium Integrates Contour for Flexible, High-Output Audio

The Dian Auditorium needed an audio system that could sound intimate and clear at lower listening levels while also providing the output and impact required for larger events. At Ciputra University in Jakarta, Indonesia, Melodia Sound and Lighting Systems designed the main system around 1 SOUND’s Contour CT212 and SUB2112, with a portable CT28 and SUB215 system available for additional event support.
A Controlled Main System
For the main left and right system, Melodia deployed Contour CT212 loudspeakers using the Contour Fly Bar, paired with SUB2112 subwoofers.
The CT212 is a 3-way, long-throw point-source loudspeaker capable of 145 dB maximum SPL, with controlled 100° × 50° dispersion that maintains constant directivity down to 200 Hz. This combination provides the output required for larger events while maintaining controlled coverage for spoken-word applications and performance environments.
The controlled dispersion also helps keep the loudspeaker's energy focused within the intended coverage area. The Contour’s dispersion and off-axis response is predictable, resulting in a cleaner onstage sound environment, eliminating unnecessary sound pollution.
A Five-Way System for Full-Range Performance
Paired with the SUB2112, the CT212 forms a complete 5-way system. The combination brings together the CT212's controlled projection and articulate clarity with the SUB2112's low-frequency output, creating a system designed for high SPL, long throw, and a full, powerful stereo image.
This gives the auditorium a system capable of handling the range of requirements that come with a versatile event space, from clear speech and presentations to performances and larger productions.
Additional Support When the Event Calls for It
Melodia also arranged a portable Contour CT28 and SUB215 system for the auditorium. The system can be deployed as stage fills or integrated as additional main support when larger events require more reinforcement.
This provides the venue with additional flexibility while keeping the portable system within the same 1 SOUND ecosystem as the installed system.
