Apple Street Kitchen Elevates Dining and Sound with a Thoughtfully Designed Audio System

Apple Street Kitchen, a cozy farm-to-table gem in New Jersey known for its “New American with an Italian soul” cuisine, recently underwent a major renovation that tripled its dining room size. Chef and owner Casey Pesce, a restaurateur and hobbyist musician, knew the expansion called for an equally thoughtful upgrade to the sound system—one that would feel as intentional as the food and atmosphere.

“Mainly, it was driven by my love for music,” Pesce shared. “I played in a band for years while working in restaurants. So, when it came time to design the space, we wanted sound that would feel amazing for guests and for me while I’m working. We even designed the whole ceiling with acoustic treatment in mind.”

L&M Sound and Light installed clean, white Cannon C5i and C4i loudspeakers for the evenly distributed audio design. To help them blend in, they were mounted using 1 SOUND’s discreet Swivel Mount accessory which offers vertical and horizontal aiming with essentially invisible hardware. Two Cannon C5s were deployed outside for the balcony dining space. In the main dining room, two Contour CT28 loudspeakers were custom-matched to room accents and positioned to support full live music performances while integrating with the distributed system. To support the Contours and the main dining room distributed system are two SUB12 subwoofers positioned on the floor.

L&M advised that the acoustic treatments should be incorporated early on. So they had sound absorption built into the vaulted ceiling using slatted wood panels and insulation beneath. To power the system are Powersoft Quattrocanali amplifiers, providing zoned power control.
